Groundforce VP, a multi award-winning construction company were looking to use 3D animation to create training videos, focusing on site safety and methodology.
I started working with Bradley.TV, a television and media agency located in Leeds to create a short demo to use as a pitch using Groundforce’s ‘trench-box’ installation guide. (See video)
…This project had around 24 sequences and a tight deadline…the machine I had at the time was rendering non-stop for about 3 weeks.
Another company had started the animation in 3D studio and it was passed to me to complete. I’d not used 3DS for years so had to relearn it fast!
This project had around 24 sequences to animate and a tight deadline. I recall working all over xmas and the machine I had at the time was rendering non-stop for about 3 weeks.
Like a lot of 3D projects, the time/budget constraints meant we had to compromise quality a little to speed things up; lowering the amount of photons emitted, omitting ambient occlusion pass and other fancier techniques.
Midway through, the company also wanted to change their logo meaning we had to start all the rendering again. I went to Leeds with all the files and we set it up on 6 machines to get the rendering done much faster.
