If you didn’t already know, Jesus Jones are a British alternative rock band that were quite famous in the 90s. Their track “Right Here, Right Now” was an international hit which was subsequently globally licensed for promotional and advertising campaigns. They also achieved chart success with the songs “Real Real Real,” “International Bright Young Thing” and “Info Freako”.

In 2011, the band started a comeback, going on “The World’s Smallest World Tour”. My brother always had a lot to do with the band and we got the gig to create the projection visuals as well as the artwork (for merchandise and their social media).
These kind of projects are always fun as you can pretty much just get stuck in to creating all sorts of random, trippy and funky visuals. We created some vectors of their existing artwork and tried to work to the style of some of their 90’s videos.
The main challenge was to just create as much as possible in the time we had, so there wasn’t room for error even tho’ a lot of it was experimental.
Early on we decided cameras on paths going through tunnels were always a winner! I made a lot of the tunnels by instantiating 3D models down paths
I also did a few 2D animations to break it up a bit, then it was all composited in Nuke and edited in FCP.
